"This little jewel will find a place in my top 10 of the year, I'm sure."
"Joanna Moon creates a intensely unique sound, mixing both the latin-flamenco flavour with an unmistakable Quebecois soul. She possesses a uniquely gifted voice, listening to her music there is a hint of an old soul reminding us of long lost passions." Read more on what others are saying about Joanna Moon! VagabundaWith her rich and powerful voice, Joanna Moon passionately gives life to the gypsy soul in the most universal sense. Originally from Québec, Joanna is inspired by a range of flamenco artists from Spain. She creates a unique musical sound that is both personal and refined, marrying wild, warm and sensual Andalusian and Cuban rhythms to her French and Spanish lyrics. After having explored many musical avenues, including folk and progressive rock, Joanna discovered her own path and today her art is an expression of a musical sphere that has always fascinated her. Vagabunda is the title of Joanna's first album. Collaborations on this project include the unique accordion of Jaro Chervinec (Cowboy Junkies, Gordon Downie) and Nicolas Hernande z (Jesse Cook, Esmeralda Enrique) as producer and guest guitarist. From 1998-2000 she played in Montreal in prestigious venues such as le Medley accompanied by Normand Vanasse (well known flamenco guitarist in North America with whom she perfected her art), and Alain Quirion (e.g. Zébulon, Marc Déry, Daniel Bélanger) on percussion, sharing the stage with Kaliroots, a popular Montreal-based Reggae band. She also played at the Café Spectacle du Palais Montcalm (Quebec City), Club Soda (Montreal), Festival des Arts (Montréal), as well as CEGEPs and Universities across Québec, this time working with the Argentinean flamenco guitarist Jorge Martinez and Quirion on Percussion. She then moved to Toronto in 2000 to explore the musical scene and formed another team in 2001 including now long-time guitarist Dennis Duffin and percussionist Bartek Kozminski. At the same time she maintained artistic contact with Jorge Martinez, producing a demo in 2003 (arranged/performed/produced by Jorge Martinez and Joanna Moon). Notable Performances
